Granny Grimmetts is a little shorter and more arching than some of the more upright hybrid perpetuals. It is compact enough to grow in front of taller roses. The bloom time is mostly in spring. The medium to large blooms are a deep velvety red with purplish shadings that are like irridescent bruises. There is a good fragrance. Disease resistance is above average. Bred in 1955, hardy from zone 4.
