My small one-person rose nursery is located in the foothills of the Appalachians. I grow about 350 different kinds of antique and modern roses and offer mainly the older varieties. All plants are grown from cuttings. Own-root plants usually start out smaller than the grafted plants which are widely available in stores, but they usually catch up in size pretty quickly. Most of our roses are grown in 16 0z. containers and are approximately 6" to 15" tall. This size is much more economical to ship. I recommend potting them up in gallon pots when they arrive. When growth is resumed and the roots fill in the pots a bit they are ready to be planted in the garden. If you'd like a measurement of the plant you are buying I will be happy to provide that so you know what you're getting.
Most plants are $18, Delbards are $23, and Austins are $25. Most varieties of Austins are limited to one plant per variety.
Shipping is $11 per box of one to four plants sent East of the MS river and is $15 sent West of the MS river. Please see on the left the states I no longer ship to in the far west.
As of 2022 Long Ago Roses will primarily be serving the Eastern United States. This is due to agriculture regulations for Japansese Beetles. I just don't like dealing with the required insecticide on a large scale.
States we no longer ship to: CA, OR, WA, ID, NV, AZ, NM, HI, AK, NE, SD, ND, KS, MT, CO, UT, OK.
I do ship to all other eastern states. I can ship to TX, AR, MS, and AL but must dunk the roots of plants in insecticide. Can ship to LA and WY without dunking, and to eastern states the roots won't have to be treated. I advise wearing gloves and using caution when handling treated roots.
